Cable TV: Welcome

Overview

Cable TV service is activated in every dorm room when you arrive on campus. Service will be active at no charge until September 4th. If you wish to continue service after September 4th, your request must be submitted by Wednesday, September 2nd. To sign up for service, go to the Sign Up for Cable TV Service page. Service for those who have not signed up will be deactivated on September 7th.

You may obtain a cable for hookup from the outlet to your television or VCR. These cables are available from any department store or Radio Shack. If you would like the University to provide the cable from the outlet to your TV, indicate so on the request form. These will be provided at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost for cable service is $31.00 per month for residence hall rooms. Additional hookups within the room will be charged at $7.00 per outlet. Service to fraternities is available to the entire house only. Individual requests within a house cannot be honored. A list of monthly charges for these houses is available from the Cable TV Office.

A monthly bill will be sent to the HWCC box of the individual whose name is on the cable service request form. Payment must be made at the Cashier’s Office. If full payment is not received by the 15th of each month, your cable TV service will be disconnected. To reinstate service, a $10 reconnection fee must be paid. If you do not receive a bill in your mailbox, you must call x4000 to request a duplicate bill.

To cancel service, you must submit a cancellation request.  Go to the Sign Up for Cable TV Service page.

Cable service is disconnected after graduation. If you wish to continue service during the summer, you must sign up again.

Digital Transition (DTV)

As you may have heard, all full-power television stations will stop broadcasting in analog and switch over to all-digital transmissions at midnight on February 17, 2009, as required by federal law. While this change will mark the end of the traditional analog method of broadcasting over-the-air television, it won’t signal the end of free broadcast television, and your favorite broadcast programs and local television stations will still be available. For more information go to www.dtvtransition.org.

Are you Digital Transition (DTV) ready?

As long as your televisions are connected to cable tv service, you’ll continue to enjoy all your favorite channels and shows after the digital transition.
